Apr 7University of Maine at Farmington Concert Band Presents Spring Concert, April 16

FARMINGTON, ME (April 7, 2009)--The UMF Concert Band, comprised of UMF
students and community members, will perform its spring concert at 7:30
p.m., Thursday, April 16, in Nordica Auditorium at University of Maine at
Farmington's Merrill Hall.
The program, selected by band members and directed by Anita Jerosch, is a
collection of film music including "Star Wars," "Pirates of the Caribbean,"
"Chicken Run" and "Somewhere in Time," among others.
Dustin Harrison, a first-year UMF music student, will be featured in the
trumpet solo in the performance of music from "Schindler's List." Before
coming to UMF, Harrison, from Greene, was active in his high school music
program where he played in the concert band, jazz band and marching band.
In 2007, Harrison was selected to play in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day
Parade in New York City.
Jerosch, a versatile bass trombonist and euphonium player, is a member of
the Bangor Symphony Orchestra and directs the Edith Jones Project--a modern,
big band jazz group. She has performed with the Portland Symphony Orchestra
and Maine State Music Theater and has played for Carol Channing, Rita
Moreno, Barry Manilow and The Manhattan Transfer and performed at both
inaugural balls for President Clinton.
Tickets are available at the door the night of the performance and are
priced at $6 for adults, $5 for seniors and are free to UMF students with
